A nice easy ride out to Kasai Rinkai Park to fly kites on kite island with Kevin the Kite Man and his flying kites. As it turned out, we picked up another kite buff.

A three-day tour from Matsumoto, over Norikura - the 'roof' of Japan, into Hida-Takayama, through to the amazingly beautiful Shirakawago replete with thatched-roof buildings, and finally down the Nagaragawa to Gifu-hashima.

Webmaestro's fourth Miura ride. It just gets better as we refine it. Brian kindly rode round the previous day and left chalk marks for us to follow. Sadly, overnight rain washed them away. But we found our way to the beer...

Perhaps the most ambitious ride plan yet - and it went off without a hitch. Five riders. Five days. Nine castles. 600 km. Zero punctures. Only the lightest shower of rain. I'm lovin' it!

A bleak and rainy day in late May. Seventeen half-fasters took part in the 2007 Sado Longride. It brightened up about 4.00 p.m., two hours before the finish. Everyone did amazingly well - especially Miho and Naoko as the first and second females across the finish line.

What a great way to enjoy Golden Week - riding over a mountain twice. We got some rain out there, but it didn't last long, and we all made it over and back with only a snapped chain to show for it. Breathtaking scenery. Thanks to Kelly, Ken and Mike for the photos, and to Akiko's folks for the great welcome.

Great photos by Chris. Three riders who started in Kanagawa rode in all seven prefectures of Kanto in one day! Huge storm on this day - we started with twelve riders and finished with six.

First major Sado training ride. Memories include fantastic views of Mt. Fuji. The headwind from hell, almost all day. 12%-13% uphill gradients. The cool long tunnel just after Fujino. Trying to locate Peter and Sumie in the morning. Shun's rusty chain. Ti-Ken's flying water bottles. Bosozoku jerks coming over the bridge. Freezing cold hands on the Jinba descent. Ramen on time at Takao-san.

42 viewsThis photo shows the peloton climbing out of a village in the mountains. It’s believed this is one of the Pyrenean towns on the route to the Col du Tourmalet. This decisive ninth stage saw the French rider André Leducq take the leaders yellow jersey from Learco Guerra (Ita). It was acknowledged as one of the toughest stages in the 1930 Tour de France.
