IT WILL COME AS*NO*SURPRISE*…to anyone to learn that NO rides are scheduled for this weekend. Saturday way too rainy, and even if I wasn’t up to my neck in moving to a new apartment, I wouldn’t be riding on Sunday, either, though it will be marginally less wet. By all means get out there and do some pedaling if you can. But you can still mark your calendars for our next burrito fest, at the Pink Cow in Akasaka on November 11th https://thepinkcowtraci.primemybody.com/<><><><><> ...Continue Reading

HUNGRY*HALF-FASTERS*…will want to head down Akasaka way tomorrow, as we gang and dine each second Wednesday at a funky little art bar called The Pink Cow https://www.thepinkcow.com/ Excellent Cal-Mex cuisine, spirited conversation and — who knows? — possibly an alcoholic beverage. It’s our regular chance to see what we all look like without the goggles, helmets and lycra. Proprietor Traci Consoli’s business was hard-hit by the recent 36 days of rain, so let’s support her a ...Continue Reading

I CAN SEE*CLEARLY *NOW*,*THE *RAIN*IS *GONE*Okay, “gone” may be a tad optimistic, but after a record 36 straight days of rain, I’ll settle for riding in a light drizzle. Thanks to all who worked to keep the club going in my absence, though there were few opportunities to ride.Saturday is shaping up to be a gorgeous day, sunny with a high of 23 degrees, so let’s shake off the cobwebs with one of my favorite rides, an Odaiba Plus. Sunday a bit cloudier at about the same temperature and a little ra ...Continue Reading

Half-Fasters, First of all, thanks to James and Mike for handling things during my recent travels. I biked in Silicon Valley, Vancouver and points between. I understand few rides were offered due to James’s sudden appendicitis and the general very wet weather conditions. We’ll step it up this fall. We also lost an irreplaceable member in Paul Barry. Hope the biking is good up there. This weekend, Saturday will be wet, and I have visitors on Sunday, so no rides on offer. Let me know if you want to venture a Sunday ride. N ...Continue Reading

Dear Half-Fasters, It is with immeasurable sorrow that I report to you that Paul Barry passed away last Saturday, peacefully in his sleep. Paul was a unique member of the club, always helping out new members and often leading rides. I think I’ll remember him most for his dry British wit. Misa wrote, “I wanted to say that I think some of Paul’s happiest times were when he was out cycling with all of you. He really loved cycling, but I think what he enjoyed most was being out there with his cycling friends. I know t ...Continue Reading
